ABOUT OUR PRACTICE
WHAT IS PHYSIOTHERAPY
Physiotherapy is a health science profession that helps people of all ages with movement disorders and other difficulties. These difficulties include a wide range of problems, such as pain, stiffness unsteadiness, weakness, or problems getting around at home or in the community. Physiotherapy treatment is administered by physiotherapists; health professionals trained in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of pain or disability acquired through accident, injury, or through the process of ageing.

Physiotherapists are university trained Allied Health practitioners who are registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a controlled professional group. This means that only people who have undertaken recognised physiotherapy training and hold adequate qualifications may provide treatment. Physiotherapy treatment is holistic, meaning that physiotherapy treatment is about the person as much as their problem, and the way that problem might affect their lives. Physiotherapists work in partnership with their patients to identify the underlying factors behind their problems, to effectively address the issues they have, and to empower their clients to achieve the best outcome.

ABOUT ATLAS PHYSIO
Atlas Physio is a general physiotherapy practice offering after-hours and weekend physiotherapy in a caring, personalised and professional manner. At Atlas Physio, we know how hectic daily life can be, and we work to offer an effective, convenient physiotherapy experience that has minimal impact on our clients' commitments.

Atlas Physio offers a wide range of simple and effective treatments designed to reduce pain, improve mobility, and help clients return to pain-free and regular living. Most importantly, these treatments are designed to minimise the likelihood that our clients will suffer similar injuries, and to make the client less reliant on clinician-managed treatment through education and advice.
In addition to physiotherapy services, Atlas Physio offers occupational health and occupational health and safety services such as ergonomics, industrial hygiene, work and premises design consultation, return to work, corporate health, and other services. These services have been developed to support people, workplaces, and organisations to be healthier and more comfortable during and at their duties of work.
ALEX PHILLIPOS
Bachelor: Health Science (General)
Bachelor: Science (Neuroscience)
Master: Physiotherapy Practice
Master: Ergonomics, Safety & Health
Master: Occupational Hygiene & Toxicology
Graduate Diploma: Occupational Health & Safety
Alex was born a year before his first birthday, to a family whose hearts were full of love, in a home full of asbestos and lead paint. He grew up in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, and at the end of his schooling his father encouraged him to study engineering or law, and his mother encouraged him to study dentistry. He surprised both of his parents by studying physiotherapy, and surprised himself by sticking it out to completion.

Having completed his studies and graduating with degrees in Health Science and Physiotherapy as well as in extreme debt, Alex completed a rotational year in the Austin Hospital network before stumbling enthusiastically between community practice, aged care, private and general clinics, and occupational health for the better part of a dog's lifespan. After fumbling as far upwards into management as a good handshake and a winning smile will get you, Alex decided he preferred having afternoon naps and so struck out solo to start his own practice. He had some spare time and so has completed additional study in Neuroscience, Ergonomics, Safety and Health, Occupational Hygiene and Toxicology, and OHS, though he is most proud of his Humility.

Currently, Alex splits his time between general physiotherapy with an occupational health focus, ergonomics, work health and safety consulting, return to work rehabilitation, and further study in Mechanical Engineering and Law, which just goes to show you should probably listen to your dad because he's going to be right eventually. He lives in Alphington with the benevolent spirit of his cat Domenico, his other cat Luther (who is alive at time of writing) and his partner who is also alive and real they're just not on Facebook and they go to a different school. Alex enjoys vinyl records, diner food, cats, trains, weightlifting, videogames, painting, and talking about himself using the Third-Person narrative voice.
